After many successful years as a teacher, and then professor at the University of Arkansas and Baylor University, Martha launched a full-time real estate career in 1983. “I think my passion for homes and real estate first started while helping at my father’s smalltown construction supply business. Each day after school I would walk to his store and spend my
afternoons surrounded by builders, remodelers, and skilled craftsmen,” Martha says. She built a company that was a model for real estate brokerages in Houston and quickly entered into the top 10 independent companies of a rapidly expanding market. In 1997, Greater Houston’s Builders Association selected Martha as REALTOR of the year out of
over 10,000 nominees.
In December of 2000, with several offers from franchises and independent companies, Martha sold her brokerage to Prudential Real Estate and moved to Bend to be near her daughter and family. After settling into Central Oregon , the developers of Pronghorn recruited Martha to their sales team. Always up for a challenge, Martha accepted the opportunity to grow the new luxury golf development and she and her sales team negotiated $75 million in real estate by the end of September 2005.
Martha’s reputation as a business consultant and real estate coach quickly caught the attention of other developers and soon she was traveling to build onsite sales teams at communities in California and Washington. . However, Martha’s passion quickly returned to the Bend luxury real estate market. For years, her business approach to real estate marketing has earned the trust of residents in the Broken Top, Awbrey Glen, and Awbrey Butte communities.
